The pet's animation changes per activity โ€” implementing, testing, thinking, reading, cramming, errored, standby. 19 states driven by real lifecycle hooks, not a spinner.

Tiered spritesheets

Tier 1 (Codex 8ร—9) is the required base. Tier 2 (Lite 8ร—11) adds per-activity art and idle escalation. Tier 3 (SoA 8ร—10) lights up delivery-gate moments.

Your pet already earns levels and half-hearts from real coding activity. XP, leaderboards, and a social feed are on the way โ€” free, no pay-to-win.

Install Codogotchi

Private beta ยท build from source

There's no notarized DMG yet โ€” the macOS app is a source build during the private beta. The .app bundles its own codogotchi binary, so there's no PATH prerequisite. On first launch it asks to install hooks; after that, manage everything from Settings โ†’ General.

Then approve the Welcome to Codogotchi consent sheet to install hooks for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot (VS Code) and Antigravity โ€” no Terminal commands required.
